Family Attorney in Oxford, Michigan

Over 25 Years of Experience

Whether you are considering ending your marriage or are already a party to a divorce proceeding, you want an experienced lawyer to help you through the process. The emotions that come with decisions about child custody, visitation and support can make it difficult to protect your own interests. You want an attorney who knows the law and process, and who will help you understand all your options so that you make informed decisions.

At the law office of Gregory Kudela & Associates, P.L.L.C., we have over two decades of experience representing men and women throughout Oakland County, Lapeer County and Genesee County in matters related to divorce. Because of our long record of success, many of our new clients come to us as referrals from former clients and other attorneys. We understand the stress and anxiety that can come with an unresolved legal matter. Contact our office or call us at 248-814-2000 or 248-236-8500 to set up a meeting to discuss your legal needs.

Our Divorce Practice

We work with men and women at all stages of a contested or uncontested divorce, from the decision to file through post-judgment requests for modification or enforcement of an existing divorce decree. We handle all matters related to or arising out of a divorce, including:

  • Child custody and parenting time
  • Child support
  • Spousal support or alimony
  • The division of marital property
  • Modification or enforcement of child custody, child support and spousal support orders

In an uncontested divorce with no minor children, we can normally finalize the divorce within 90 days. When children are involved, even if the divorce is uncontested, the law in Michigan requires a six month waiting period. In a contested divorce, whether you go to mediation, arbitration or trial, the process generally takes nine to 18 months.

Approaching Divorce

We know from experience that every divorce is unique and that many unknown factors can play into the process. Though we are skilled and experienced litigators and always willing to take your claims to trial to protect your interests, we also recognize that the most effective and long-lasting solutions are usually those that the parties work out together. We strongly encourage you to have ongoing communication with your spouse and to try to find mutually beneficial ways to resolve your differences.

To schedule a meeting with an experienced Michigan divorce lawyer, contact us or call us at 248-814-2000 or 248-236-8500. We maintain regular office hours and meet with clients by appointment. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
